The visit of the miracle-working myrrh-streaming icon of the Mother of God “The Softening of Evil Hearts”

The Miracle-working, myrrh-streaming icon of the Mother of God “The Softening of Evil Hearts” visited our church on Sunday, 11th October 2015 and was presented during the Divine Liturgy. At the end of the Liturgy we had a special prayer service before the icon. Continue reading

60 years of Holy Trinity Parish in Vancouver, British Columbia

In May 2014, 60 years have passed since the establishment of the Holy Trinity Parish of the Russian Orthodox Church outside of Russia in Vancouver, B. C. This anniversary was marked by the Holy Trinity Parish on the day of the Holy Trinity, the patronal feast of the temple. For this event, the patronal feast and parish anniversary, the ruling bishop of the Diocese of Canada, the Most Reverend Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada visited Vancouver. Continue reading

Christmas Liturgy and Christmas celebration

Orthodox Christians around the world celebrate Christmas on December 25 on the Julian calendar or January 7 on the Gregorian calendar. In our Church on January 7 we had Christmas Divine Liturgy, after which the children from our Sunday school performed a special Christmas concert. Children and Church

As a general rule, children like attending Church, and this instinctive attraction to and interest in Church services is the foundation on which we must build our religious education. When parents worry that children will get tired because services are long and are sorry for them, they usually subconsciously express their concern not for their children but for themselves.
